HOW TO REGISTER A SOCIETY IN INDIA?

In India, a Society is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.  Under this Act, a minimum of seven members are required to form a society.

  1. Choose a name for the society.
  2. Formulate a Memorandum of Association that is to be filed with the Registrar of Societies.
  3. Pay registration fees along with the memorandum of association to the Registrar.
  4. Annual filing is to be filed to the Assistant registrar either by post or by visiting the office.
  5. Furnish and submit the required documents.
  6. Maintain an account that contains all particulars of income and expenditure to facilitate the creation of the balance sheet.

REGISTRING A SOCIETY ONLINE

In some states, online society registration has been facilitated. Following are the steps to get registered online-

  • Step 1: Create an Account on the official website of the Co-operations, Marketing, and Textiles Department.
  • Step 2: Login.
  • Step 3: Enter the login id and password that redirect to the online portal containing the application form.
  • Step 4: Fill out the registration details displayed on the page.
  • Step 5: Upload documents.
  • Step 6: Download Society Certificate.
